What is Summary Writing?
A summary is a short version of a longer passage that includes only the main ideas in a compact and neutral format.

Summary Writing মানে হলো একটি বড় passage-এর মূল বক্তব্য সংক্ষেপে নিজের ভাষায় উপস্থাপন করা, যেখানে অতিরিক্ত কিছু লেখা হয় না।
🔹 Why Summary Writing Is Important
✅ এটা আপনার Reading + Writing দুইটা দক্ষতাই যাচাই করে
✅ নিয়মিত প্র্যাকটিস করলে খুবই high scoring অংশ
✅ বোর্ড পরীক্ষায় ১০ এর মধ্যে ৮–১০ নম্বর পাওয়ার সুযোগ
যদি নিয়মিত প্র্যাকটিস করো, তাহলে সহজেই পুরো নম্বর তোলা সম্ভব।
🔹 Steps to Write a Good Summary
- Passage পড়ো ভালোভাবে
→ মনোযোগ দিয়ে পুরো passage পড়ে বোঝো - Main idea বা central message বের করো
→ কোন বিষয়টা সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ন সেটা বুঝে রাখো - Key information underline করো
→ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ লাইন বা fact চিনে রাখো - Extra details, উদাহরণ বাদ দাও
→ Unnecessary উদাহরণ, সংখ্যা, নাম বাদ দাও - নিজের ভাষায় ৫০–৬০ শব্দে লেখো
→ নিজের শব্দ ব্যবহার করে সংক্ষেপে লিখতে হবে - Complete sentences লেখো, but no full copy
→ পুরো লাইন কপি করা যাবে না - No personal opinion or analysis
→ “I think”, “in my view” টাইপ মন্তব্য একেবারেই নয়
Model Summary Example
Given Passage:
“Trees are our best friends. They give us oxygen, food, shade, and protect the environment. But nowadays, people cut trees for housing and furniture. If this continues, the future will be dangerous.”
Model Summary (55 words):
Trees are essential for our life and environment. They give us oxygen, food, and protect nature. But people are cutting down trees recklessly. This causes harm to the balance of nature. If it continues, the future will be at risk.
Bangla Explanation:
গাছ আমাদের জীবন ও প্রকৃতির জন্য অপরিহার্য। গাছ কাটার ফলে ভবিষ্যৎ হুমকির মুখে পড়তে পারে।
tips to Score Higher
✅ Start directly (no greeting/title)
✅ Stick to 45–60 words
✅ Maintain logical flow
✅ Use linking words – so, thus, as a result
✅ Avoid copying full lines from the passage
সংক্ষেপে, তথ্যবহুল এবং নিজের ভাষায় লেখা summary-তেই নম্বর বেশি হয়।
